Why we can’t take in large breeds for now

Many of our customers have asked us why we can’t take in large breed dogs. Honestly, we really wish we could :( We love dogs of all sizes and if we had the luxury of uninhibited space, we would be boarding more than just dogs. Unfortunately, till next time (fingers crossed), we’re gonna have to stick to boarding tinier breeds.

You see, little dogs are very afraid of the big ones. It doesn’t matter how friendly they are, the sheer difference in size scares them and they tend to get very stressed out which leads to an array of problems. They won’t eat, can barely sleep and are too afraid to play. We can’t allow that to happen to our little furry clients :( We wouldn’t like it if a huge, burly guy stood right next to our bed or hit us really hard because he wanted to play- big dogs don’t realize how strong they are and how the tiniest of movements might actually injure the little ones.

Unless they grew up together, there’s little chance that a small dog will be accepting of a giant one- especially when it’s already facing the stress of being away from home. We try to do our best to keep the dogs happy because we know what it feels like to be home sick. It’s hard enough being away from home as an adult, imagine being thrown into an unfamiliar home when you’re a kid! It’s a nightmare.

Of course, we do accept large dogs for daycare when we don’t have any little ones with us! There’s a resident chihuahua here, but he’s a little old man who spends most of his time in the room so he’ll be okay :) So do check with us for availability if you’d like to place your friendly giant here for the day :) We’re sorry we can’t take in large breeds for now. Hopefully we’ll move to a bigger place in future!

P.S: A big thank you to all our wonderful customers for their constant support! We do hope to see you again real soon at Crystle’s Dog Boarding!
